We Still Remember

Immediately following and for years after the murder of women at the Ecole Polytechnique in Quebec in 1989 I was involved in memorial services and encouraged men to wear white ribbons. Please take a moment today to remember and pray for these women and all women who are victims of violence because of their gender.

I was not living in Canada at this time, so I don't "remember", but I have learned of this story and on this day, I remember these women and the many others who are the victims of such violence.

I do remember this news story and David, I really appreciate your photo with this particular blog - naming all fourteen women. Unfortunately, it is far easier to remember the single murderer(Lepine, Bernardo, Dalmer to name but a few) instead of his/her many victims by name. I wish there could be a way to change this.

Thanks to both of you. I agree Deb that we can honour even when we can't recall.

The focus is intentional Susan. Why give power to the perpetrator of such a crime?
