The Tomato Whisperer

I love it when people of different generations connect with each other in this family of faith! A senior citizen who has an amazing ability to grow vegetables (hey, he was born in the Netherlands) offered tomato plants he had started as a fundraiser for our young people.
The youth have been making meals for our freezer bank which distributes them to those in the congregation and beyond who may be going through a season in their lives where meal prep is a chore. Jan gives them the tomato plants, the congregation makes donations for the plants, and the money is used to buy groceries for the meal preparation. Well, $260 later the young people have the cash to make meals.
Thanks to Jan, the Tomato Whisperer.
How good is this!

We are looking forward to enjoying the fruits of Jan's labours. Others will be enjoying the meals provided by the youth. Everyone wins. Many thanks Jan and to our youth who prepare the meals.

I am very late posting but this was such a wonderful initiative. Whenever the generations blend the harvest is grand!
I must shout out to the Tomato Whisperer's wife, who is the milk bag whisperer.....teaching several of our young folk this winter, spring to turn plastic bags into sleeping mats to be sent to Haiti. And the ministry grows, as a group of seniors, some homebound, will pick up their crochet needles and join in from the comfort of home.
The teens also enjoyed an evening with a recently retired gentleman from our congregation who shared his experience of a month long pilgrimage in Spain.
What rich assets we have to share.

Thanks for all your responses. This was definitely both warm and fuzzy. I agree with Nan -- everyone wins.
